The first movie I caught by director Ryan Nicholson was his tourists in peril movie Live Feed. It wasn’t until I got sent a bootleg copy of Torched though that I really got what he was all about. Live Feed got sucked into the “oh it’s just a Hostel rip-off” category of films, of which it wasn’t. Torched however was a brutal sojourn into the realm of the revenge flick. Short, sweet and to the point, it was a little rough around the edges but that was part of its twisted charm. Oh, and in case you wondered, which I am sure you haven’t, I have since bought Torched. At the time it wasn’t readily available, Nicholson knew this and didn’t threaten me with a lawsuit.
Torched really set the tone of what was to come in terms of style and content. If Live Feed was a little slicker in terms of production it was Gutterballs Continue reading »
