Four college kids agree to house-sit for their professor while he’s away on vacation but their festivities are cut short when a mysterious package arrives containing an ornate mirror. No sooner does the mirror go up on the wall before one of the group ends up severely beaten by, what he claims to be, Killjoy! That’s right kiddies, the legendary demon of vengeance himself! Is Killjoy really there in the apartment, reaching the kids through the mirror? If so, who summoned him and why?

Folks, I must admit that I was never a big fan of Full Moon’s urban horror film line, I mean you have to respect Charles Continue reading »

From Christian rock singer in PHIL THE ALIEN (don’t worry most people haven’t seen it) to Sucks front man of THE WINNERS Canadian director Rob Stefaniuk returns to his favorite subject of musical mayhem via the rock & roll vampire horror comedy SUCK

After playing the film circuits SUCK finally gets its long awaited DVD release. Not the best of names and you’re pretty much opening the floodgates of name bashing/Suck jokes. However much like its bloodsucking creatures of the night portrayed in the film, this film also has creeped-out out of sight from societies /movie fans’ eye.

Going nowhere Canadian rock band THE WINNERS starts to find success after its bassist becomes a vampire. However they quickly realize success Continue reading »

Colin Fitz does live, eventually. There are always films that seem to exist in a sort of limbo before they finally see the light of day, whether it be theatrically or on DVD. Movies such as the terrific Trick R Treat which took a couple of years to finally get released, or All The Boys Love Mandy Lane, which was made in 2006 but has yet to get a wide release, are a couple that spring to mind. Neither of these two get close to the limbo that Colin Fitz Lives! has been in though. Not even close.

Colin Fitz Lives was made in 1996 and hit a few festivals in 1997, and now nearly 15 years later it is finally seeing the light of day. That is one hell of a long time to be sitting on a shelf gathering dust Continue reading »

Richard Crawdaddy

Spoofs, parodies and a perverted puppet? Something odd is rumbling around the city of Cleveland and I’m hearing the whispers of an underground movement. Could it be Gojira coming up from Lake Erie finally? No, that’s not quite right, considering Richard Crawdaddy is much shorter than Gojira. No, it seems to be an old, wisecracking puppet calling himself Richard Crawdaddy. He currently has his own show with a much more attractive co-host, Jaclyn Bradley. He’s rude, crude, mean but even better, honest. It all adds up to funny and this hard working, or is that hardly working crew are moving on up. Continue reading »

Screener Review

A young girl is caught in the middle of a custody battle and is sent to live with her absentee father who is now the leader of a strange cult. With her sweet sixteenth birthday coming up, little does Jenny know that her cult leader father and his followers have a birthday surprise in store for her.

It seems to me after watching this film director Fies, is standing at a precipice built by The Commune. All she’ll need to do is jump down and I am certain she’ll land on her feet. This psychological slow burn filmed in eighteen days really took me by surprise. It is darkly sinister and yet very engaging. Reality horror is what is given to us via this tale of ultimate betrayal. Still, I was Continue reading »

A masterpiece...of crap.

Some days are better than others when you’re king of the world, right? I mean the horror cinema community dubs you a “genius” and fans, producers and studios are constantly telling you that ALL of your films are masterpieces, what else is a man to think? When ass-kissing magazines and dishonest online critics hand your zombie films four and five stars on a daily basis, while strategically avoiding any serious discussion of your remaining body of mediocre non-zombie work, well, how can one not feel godlike? It’s easy to understand how a man can be fooled into thinking that he’s still making worthwhile contributions to the genre when you consider the immense amount of pressure he must be under to maintain that level of notoriety. I do not envy George A. Romero. Continue reading »

Goofy As Hell!

Yoshihiro Nishimura. If the mere mention of the man’s name sends shivers down the length of your geek bone, then you’ve probably been anticipating this film as well. Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl has been at the top of “Must-See” lists across the net for months now so I was truly excited to get my hands on this film for review. That’s an understatement actually, giddy is more like it.

I wasn’t disappointed to be honest, everything I received from Meatball Machine: ROD and Tokyo Gore Police was here as well! There was off-the-wall gore, hot schoolgirls, shockingly offensive stereotypes, social commentary (believe it or not) and even a little story! Did I mention monsters Continue reading »

Pure Crap!

When it was announced a year or so ago that Thai filmmaker Yuthlert Sippapak would be working on a new entry into his Buppha Rahtree films, I grew incredibly hopeful. I’d read somewhere that he planned to make this film a bit less comedic than the first and second instead intending to concentrate on more horror. This was promising considering the films in this series have went from only slightly comedic to full-on horror comedy. I welcomed the idea of a straight-up horror Rahtree film and from the looks of the stills, it was going to be grisly as hell.

When the trailers hit the web things really began looking up for this film. Sure there was a little comedy evident Continue reading »

Theatrical Poster

Welcome to Exceptional Vista, a town where nothing exceptional has happened since the nut factory closed it’s doors. That’s all about to change. Hungry interstellar visitors have come to town and are not only depleting the population but disrupting the TV signals as well. This is a character and dialog driven movie, and it gets along just fine without the big budget stuff. It’s lean in the effects department, but the few you get vary from satisfactory to impressive. The fly on the wall perspective of this small town life is actually quite twisted behind the facade. There are tons of hilariously memorable lines and the sexual innuendos fly, ranging from bestiality to incest. Topping it all off are the brutal mutilations that are shoved in you face when you Continue reading »

DVD Release

A couple of old miners discover a creamy white substance oozing out of the ground; it turns out, the stuff is tasty, sweet and highly addicting. An aggressive marketing campaign shortly has The Stuff in every household being devoured by the masses. It’s all a good tasty time, until The Stuff starts moving on it’s own and consuming it’s consumers. Think Invasion Of The Body Snatchers meets The Blob, add some camp and you’ve got The Stuff. The special effects, for the most part, are quite simple but also very creative and well done. There’s lots of funny dialog and the characters are goofy and likable. The Stuff is a tasty treat that will have you coming back for seconds and thirds.

UK DVD Release

A group of guys looking to cheer their friend during his stressful divorce decide to head out to a remote little village called Moodley for some drinking, carousing and trouble-making but the celebration is cut short when they find themselves in the middle of a military experiment. The entire town’s female population has been mutated into raving, homicidal cannibal creatures and the blokes wind up next on the menu!

Jake West is arguably a hit-or-miss filmmaker for those in his own country (the UK) but here in the states his last horror/comedy Evil Aliens is praised for its non-stop unhinged, offensive and utterly entertaining antics. It’d be an understatement to say Doghouse was highly anticipated; you’re either chomping Continue reading »
