Armageddon has arrived! Those damn politicians done went and blew themselves up leaving nothing but dry, arid wastelands populated by roving packs of nomads, scavengers and murderous motorcycle/car-driving bandits. That’s just the insanity above ground! Below the scorching sands dwells a subterranean society of cannibalistic, Morlock-like creatures called ‘Sand People’ that wait to snatch travelers that stray to far from base camp. What exactly do they want? Well, dinner is indeed served. Basically the future sucks all kinds of post-nuke balls.

I must confess that although I am a fan of cannibal movies in general, I had been putting off watching Slave of the Cannibal God for quite a while now. Why? Well there were two reason really and they are Ursula Andress and Stacy Keach. I just couldn’t imagine that a cannibal movie would work with two big(ish) names involved. I mean let’s face it, when I think of Ursula Andress the first thing that springs to mind is James Bond, or to be more precise Ursula in a swimsuit in Dr Continue reading »

I’ll admit it, the thought of reviewing another Umberto Lenzi movie filled me with a certain amount of trepidation. This is one seriously inconsistent film maker that you just never know what to expect from. Some of his movies are a joy to watch, others are just plain painful, yes I’m looking at you Black Demons.
Man From Deep River though did have a couple of good selling points that filled me with a little hope. Firstly, the lead is played by Ivan Rassimov, that stalwart of Italian exploitation, secondly, he is joined on screen by Me Me Lai, who is one fine looking lady, and finally it is a cannibal movie. Well, the first too are true, but the third is slightly misleading, more on that later though Continue reading »

Sweet...and shitty?
Three young women and a nosey investigative journalist are kidnapped by an international white slavery ring and smuggled into Southeast Asia for a black market auction. Thankfully their captivity doesn’t last as a ex-pat scoundrel with a heart of gold sticks his neck out for the girls and helps them escape and evade capture. Instead of taking the opportunity to leave, the determined journalist decides to remain behind and bring the pain in order to find out whether her daughter is dead or alive and where she’s located at!
You’d think an action film featuring Nancy Allen (Robocop 1-3) as the machine gun toting heroine with cojones of steel and Martin Landau as the splayfooted villain might end up being nothing more than a shitty 80′s cheesefest Continue reading »

At risk teens are shipped off to what their parents believe is a rehabilitation center for teens with behavior issues on an island in Fiji. The boot camp run by a so-called doctor is just advocating abuse and brainwashing as his rehabilitation program.
Here we are treated to another one of these based on real incident films. This part is for real there really are boot camps that are rife with abuse on all levels coming from multiple aggressors and boatloads of brainwashing going on as well. The fact that this film is based on probable real incidents doesn’t make the viewing any better though. This film turns over a very average if not on the ridiculous Continue reading »
