After having viewed a few of Japans Pink films recently, I started to get an understanding of how the films generally looked and were made. S&M Hunter thus far, has been the best all around Pink film I’ve seen to date from technical aspects to having a full, story.
A man’s partner is kidnapped by The Bombers, an all female gang looking to use men as their personal sex slaves. S&M Hunter takes the job of infiltrating the group, and finding the kidnapped guy, all the while using his rope skills to train the females to serve him. He saves the day, one of the women falls for him and he knows deep down their love can’t be because he has many women to train. A year later, she comes back for revenge.
S&M Hunter, lacking in the sex Pink films usually entail, compensates by having some very well shot Japanese rope bondage sequences. From the “spider web” to hanging fifty feet in the air by a crane, no woman is safe from the enjoyment of S&M Hunters rope. And the sequences themselves were shot very well, and the actresses got into the moment very well.
S&M Hunter himself is a character himself, sporting an eye patch, a trench coat, and a simple rope as a weapon; he fights his way through the ranks of the bombers and never stops his stoic glare, knowing he’s fully in control. The woman who he fights at the end, also has an excellent sequence where she gets ready to find him by getting into full Nazi fetish clothes. It came out of nowhere, but didn’t seem out of place at all due to the content of the film.
Though these films were typically shot on a low to no budget, S&M Hunter did a good job looking as if someone put some money into it. The sets weren’t laughably decorated, and the choice of doing some scenes outdoors by a construction site added instant production value. The acting wasn’t bad, which also helped boost the value of the films production.
What really made the film enjoyable to watch though, was the score. It had such an epic, 70’s flare to it that when it played, you just knew nothing bad was going to happen to our hero. Even when he was turning down the woman he could possibly love, the music charged in and you knew he’d be okay.
S&M Hunter is definitely a fun film to check out for anybody who enjoys Japanese Pink films, or Japanese rope bondage. The film has something for fans of both.
