The Frog brothers legacy is in tatters after Alan is turned by a vampire bite and Edgar’s trailer home and surrounding anti-vampire compound is foreclosed on by the bank. Just when things couldn’t get any worse, a beautiful visitor shows up and offers Edgar the job of a lifetime, to rescue her younger brother and slay the leader of all vampires. Unable to turn his back on the opportunity to slay the top suck monkey and in turn curing his brother Alan, Edgar begrudgingly accepts and an unlikely team is assembled for the mission.

Now Edgar, fellow comic geek Zoe, vampire romance novelist Gwen Lieber, has-been reality TV douchebag Lars Vongetz and his loyal cameraman Claus must infiltrate an old slaughterhouse when an underground rave is about to take place. This is no ordinary rave though, the powerful vampire DJ X and his clan plans to create a vampire army using a new drug made of vampire blood! With the lives of the team, Gwen’s brother Peter and all of San Cazador at stake, Edgar must fight like he’s never fought before.

First things first, Lost Boys: The Thirst was flat-out entertaining. Crazy, right? I wanted to hate it, I really did, because the first sequel was such steamer but it’s hard to hate on a film with zero pretension. Boobs and blood is all the rage! Feldman is back in the saddle as Edgar Frog and about fifteen minutes is all it takes to give you a good idea of what you’ll be getting into and that, friends, is pure direct-to-DVD cheese. The third film in the Lost Boys franchise offers viewers and fans exactly what they’ve been asking for all along, namely the Frogs and vampires. Big time goofy fun.

High entertainment value aside, as in all low budget films there were a few things I took issue with though none of which matters I suppose. Truthfully I could have done without the dated (read: 90′s) rave storyline, the re-designed “30 Days of Night” style vampires and the whole vampire blood drug (shamefully jacked directly from True Blood). One might be lead to believe that all of this was intentional, winks to the new breed of vampire entertainment, and considering the middle finger given to the Twilight book series and author Stephanie Meyer, I might be inclined to halfheartedly agree but it still felt exploitative and cheap.

Wait, did I just whine about exploitation?

Honestly, this flick was fun so don’t take my above gripes to mean its’ not worth viewing, I just wouldn’t purchase this for my collection despite the eye-candy actresses and occasional cool action sequence. However, I will be coming back for the next sequel as a new possible antagonist (perhaps protagonist?) has been introduced and it would be insanity for Feldman and fellow producers not to jump while the getting is good and fans are paying attention.

  1. Wow Erghhh ,ill start with adding the film was better than the second not hard . I’ll start off with the trailer makes film look great ,it has the original soundtrack with great clips and leaves you with a tingle down your back with expectation plus I listened to a feldman interview saying about the district 9 guys doing effects so I was very excited . I watched thefilm today and I’ve seen better effects in smallvile or vampire diaries ,maybe they should have gone with a series like the terminater s.connor chronicles .I was expecting blade type weapons all you got was a silly little spike mine. The story line and screen play was to chopped up ,feldman, frog kept making a annoying grown all the way trough the film that sounded like a 14yr old vin diesel .anyway the film should off started with a bang like the original blade film club fight to get you hooked but it just slowly tripped over itself all the way through ,the only effects were in the trailer ,they hardly killed any vamps and the weapons we seen before its 2011 there should off been super cross bows ,electric uv boomarangs something .what is good is as in the second the end . So dissapoionts ,but if your board got nothing to do will take up a hour and a half off your day . If they make a forth ,please get a good story ,more effects ,better weapons, more than 7 odd vamps getting killed ,darker characters more violent frog bros ,faster better action scenes. Maybe it should be re started maybe pass the rolls to younger acters make preqaul . Very confusing I don’t know ,they need big help bigger budget .sad very sad ,I hope I’m proved wrong and they make a killer.

  2. Nice story
