Teenage comedy gets a very rude, and very welcome, kick in the family jewels by writer’s Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg. Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) are about to graduate from high school and are in desperate need of some sexual healing before they set off to college, there is one party left (and the only one they’ve ever been invited too!) and it’s now or never; they just have the small task of getting all of the alcohol for said party!.

So far, so clichéd. Where Super Bad differs from the normal horny teen genre is the characters. The writers have based the exploits on their experiences in a high school and as a result Seth and Evan feel so real; so real that they instantly become the friends you wish you had in high school. For some, me included, it hit a little too close to home as their crude talk and general idiotic behavior mirrors exactly what me and my friends would do; from drunken stupidity to never having the balls to chase girls.

The incompetent cops (played by Seth Rogan and Bill Hader) are hilarious, as they go about dodging police work and focusing their interests on getting drunk with the now legendary ‘McLovin’ (Christopher Mintz-Plasse); after a little incident in a liquor store that sets the whole movie into comedic over-drive. The three leads are all excellent and will have you rolling around on the floor; as will the exploits of the cops. This is comedy at its filthy best; the language is oh-so-very fresh and will offend most prudes – but I know its how me and my peers spoke at that age… and unfortunately, still do!

If you’re looking for some genuine comedy, with a real heart warming reminder of your younger days, look no further than Super Bad. Those who thought American Pie was the be all, and end all, when it comes to teen comedy are in for a rude awakening; this is the finest teen comedy in twenty years and I truly believe it’ll not be surpassed any time soon. All involved have achieved something special this movie and you’ll find yourself re-watching this movie time after time. Highly, highly recommended.
