Poor Emanuelle is up to her old tricks again but this time instead of being raped by mercenaries or thugs, she’s tossed in the clink for five years on a drug charge, arranged by a corrupt district attorney. As if getting locked up weren’t enough, the beautiful Emanuelle has made a mortal enemy by the name of Albina who plans to finish her off no matter what. Before the guards and Albina can do her in though, a group of four male prisoners being transferred to another prison get the jump on officials and take the women’s prison hostage…along with Emanuelle! Now it’s a fight for survival as the group rape and terrorizes the women! Emanuelle must be strong for everybody…and…not show us her hot body…or make mad, passionate beaver sex with other chicks…*sigh*
Women’s Prison Massacre is grimy, sleazy and bloody as hell! The late great Bruno Mattei really delivered on the exploitation but forgot one important detail that will forever haunt this film, aside from Tinti raping Emanuelle, we get NO Gemser nudity!! How can that be?!! How can you have an Emanuelle flick that doesn’t have Emanuelle sexing somebody up? While watching this film I kept getting this nagging feeling something wasn’t right, something was missing, and then it hit me, I hadn’t seen Gemser’s T&A or ravishing beaver not once…NOT ONCE. What a goddamn shame.
Aside from the lack of Laura Gemser goodies, Women’s Prison Massacre is really quite entertaining. Sure, it’s a bit unrealistic at times, especially the hilarious spoken word performance piece in the beginning, but the film has some wild moments which include a cork & razor in the cooch and a fantastically messy game of Russian roulette that blows meaty wads of brain into Gabriele Tinti’s laughing mouth! Gross!
The acting in this was hit or miss, as one might expect. Some actors were horrid while others were brilliantly over-the-top. I think the worst part about this film was the dialogue, yet it still managed to put a smile on my face so can it really be all that bad if I enjoyed it? NAY! I’m not sure I’d go so far as to insist this film makes Scarface look like a Sunday school picnic, neither films are similar and Scarface is an undisputed American cinema classic, but Women’s Prison Massacre is undoubtedly one of the better Emanuelle films out there.
I dig the shit outta Women’s Prison Massacre and, this time around, Shock-O-Rama have really done the film right by not only offering it uncut but also re-mastering it in Hi-Def. The picture looks great, much better than their first release of this film. I was also overjoyed to find Caged Women, more Emanuelle in prison action, included on the second disc as an extra though I feel Media Blaster’s version, released as Violence in a Women’s Prison, is a better bet if you’re looking to purchase it. Still, a fun flick with some nifty extras, not bad. If you’re an Emanuelle fan, this is a must.
